Irv Roland is an Oklahoma City native who played basketball collegiately at Division 2 Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Post graduation he landed a job as a video intern with the Boston Celtics. Once his NBA journey began, he quickly found his passion for developing players. Irv has been an assistant with the New Orleans Hornets, Phoenix Suns, and Houston Rockets and has trained NBA players such as Kevin Durant, Lebron James, Chris Paul, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Trae Young, Devin Booker and Donovan Mitchell. Most recently, Irv was an assistant coach with the Utah Jazz during the 2021-2022 & 2022-2023 seasons. Irv has now joined the Sports Academy family and will be leading our basketball training programs at Sports Academy at the Star in Frisco, Texas. We look forward to the impact Irv will have on our athletes and the Texas basketball community.
